To provide a diplomatic perspective on issues between different states; to enable participants to gain experience in analysis, strategy, negotiation and agreement processes.
To be a platform that shapes the future of international diplomacy, produces peaceful and sustainable solutions, and trains individuals with leadership skills.
Dear Participants,
I am pleased to welcome you to the Marmara Diplomacy Forum, the first edition of which will be held at ITO Marmara Imam Hatip High School from November 14-16.
I am Selman Bilir, an 11th-grade student at ITO Marmara Imam Hatip High School. I am honored to serve as your Secretary General and extend this invitation to all of you to participate in this truly unique event.
When we initially decided to organize a diplomacy model, the only and most widespread option was the Model United Nations.
However, as Imam Hatip youth, we have witnessed the failure of the United Nations in addressing many international issues, most notably the Palestinian issue, and especially the current situation in Gaza. We felt it was our duty to boycott this flawed system and establish a just alternative — at least at the secondary model level — to stand in solidarity with humanitarian causes, especially the Palestinian cause. After extensive research and collaborative work with our team, we established the “Marmara Diplomacy Forum,” which we believe will exceed all expectations, break the barriers of the impossible, and most importantly, strive for justice and development in the world. The Marmara Diplomacy Forum differs from traditional conferences in that it does not give disproportionate control to just five countries, as is the case in UN conferences. Instead, it allows all countries to freely express their policies, positions, opinions, and proposed steps on every issue addressed at the forum.
In short, the MDF’24 team has worked tirelessly to prepare an unparalleled experience for you. We are eagerly looking forward to seeing you at this event, which we have poured our efforts into.
On behalf of the General Secretariat and our academic team, I welcome you once again and wish you all the best and success in your preparation for this forum, which will be held from November 14-16.
Finally, I would like to end by paying tribute to all the martyrs who defended our country on the night of July 15, the martyrs of Palestine and East Turkestan, and all those who have been persecuted around the world.
With best regards,
Selman Bilir
Secretary General
